Does anybody think there's too much fighting on TV?

People talk about violence on television like it’s a new thing. It even happens on basketball courts and football fields

Personally, I think there is too much violence on TV but I think it’s like that for a reason: to boost ratings. We live in a world where the bad is good and the good is bad. All these reality shows, cartoons, talk shows where everybody is all violence and sexual, all of that is just a form of entertainment. This is what today’s generation wants to see. There’s more sex and violence on TV because people know that TV viewers want to see. It’s all fun and entertainment.

People want to see someone beating the crap out of each other because
it grabs your attention. People, especially younger people, glorify violence. They just get a thrill of seeing somebody beating somebody up because they think it’s funny and entertaining. If you’re watching two elderly men fishing, and they start arguing, insulting each other and start fighting, you will stop and watch.

Look at all the reality and talk shows. That is why Jerry Springer has been on TV as long as he’s been because of the fights. If Jerry Springer show didn’t have fights, it wouldn’t be a jerry springer show.

I don’t have a problem with it though. To me, it’s just TV. If it bothered me, I could always changed the station.

You know the usual scene….two men fighting at the bar….one of the guy punches the other
he flies up in the air backwards and fall on the table. A little boy would see this on TV, then come to school, and lie to his buddies saying he did that to somebody.

I can see where it plays a part on children too. It has an affect on the kids too. Kids watch TV
and since they’re young and naive, they’re easily led to that type of behavior. They would see a man jabbing a dude to death and would want to come to school and try these acts on other kids. But not all kids are like this. I work at an elementary school and the kids like to wrestle….they play, do karate moves, it’s harmless fun but there are some who get serious and aggressive and pick up this act from either their enviorment or from television.

Some of the bullies try to portray, be like somebody they saw on TV, hoping that they would be admired, liked and get that same respect like the guy on TV, who is an actor and probably is a good guy in real life.

The reality shows play a part too. A lot of people think that this is better because it’s not staged or acting. It’s actually real. You would see rappers wrestling in the studio or females fighting, cursing, pulling each other’s hair. So yes, there is a lot of fighting on TV, I think.
